Hungarians (Magyars):

According to the imagination of the medieval man this corresponds to the picture of fierce nomad horsemen shooting arrows. So it was not surprising if he sighted from time to time: "God, save us form the arrows of the Hungarians!" Our ancestors coming from East came uppon this huge plain surrounded by the Carpathian mountains, which has been the home-country of the nation for more than 1100 years. The spirit of the ancient settlement is well taken care of by the National Historical Commemorative Park (Nemzeti Történeti Emlékpark).

Baks

Baks is a little, quiet village in the middle of the Csongrád county, in the Pusztaszer Nature Reserve, that meet the river Tisza (only 5 kms). The environs of the settlement is rich in natural value. There is a great possibility to wander about the classical plain, acaia, oak or waterlogged forests. Hundreds of rare birds are living in these forests.

The closeness of the river Tisza, the typical flora and fauna, the clean air, the possibilities for fishing in the area, the organised trips on horseback or by bicycle make the Hungarian Great Plain even more attractive.

Ópusztaszer, Szeged, Csongrád, Kiskunmajsa, Mártély, Szegvár, Hódmezővásárhely.

For anglers

Close by village Baks there are excellent possibilities for the anglers in the Canal Dongér, in Lake Csaj, in the fishponds of the region and in the River Tisza. On the other side of the river is the village Mártély rich in fishes.. 

You can buy daily tickets for fishing by the associations of anglers.

For hunters

Because of the natural capability the hare, pheasant, malland and deer are typical of the Csongrád county. Hunting-ground of the Shooting-parties is 9000 Ha.

The River Tisza is a moving line of the birds. The quality of the stock of game is good, the deer-trophies are in the best three in Hungary.

For horsemen

In the area of Baks there are three horse-breeder, who are engaged in organising trips on horseback and riding-school. In the "Krónikás" Park Inn*** you can order driving on horsed carriage too.
